Groovin’ Easy Band Info


Groovin’ Easy is the newest jazz band from northern New Jersey. Looking to the West Coast jazz bands, this 9-piece band features a vocalist plus 4 brass and 4 rhythm to create its unique Big Band sound with well-seasoned musicians who have performed with both local and national jazz and big bands.

The band is based out of Morris County, NJ, and plays throughout the metropolitan area.

Vocalist Nancy Koch has a long and accomplished resume as lead vocalist with many of the area’s jazz & big bands including Silver Starlite Orchestra, Gentle Winds Orchestra, Blue Skies, and is currently a lead vocalist with Rhythm, Reeds and all that Brass Big Band & the Jefferson Township Community Jazz Band.

Our repertoire includes classic tunes by Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and even Elvis Presley.

Route 66

"(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" is a popular rhythm and blues standard, composed in 1946 by American songwriter Bobby Troup. The song uses a twelve-bar blues arrangement and the lyrics follow the path of U.S. Route 66 (US 66), which traversed the western two-thirds of the U.S. from Chicago, Illinois, to Los Angeles, California.

Sammy Nestico (born Samuel Louis Nistico, February 6, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is a composer and arranger of big band music. Nestico is best known for his arrangements for the Count Basie orchestra. Nestico received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Duquesne University in 1950, and he has received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from his alma mater.

"Do Nothing till You Hear from Me" (also written as "Do Nothin' Til You Hear From Me") is a song with music by Duke Ellington and lyrics by Bob Russell. It originated as a 1940 instrumental ("Concerto for Cootie") that was designed to highlight the playing of Ellington's lead trumpeter, Cootie Williams. Russell's words were added later.
